FIRST HARVEST

On April 8, 2025, Mike M., Director of Operations for the Teaching Garden, harvested the first crop of loose leaf greens and herbs to share with our neighbors during the Tuesday night Chatham Chuckwagon meal distribution. There are few things more exciting than looking back just a hand full of months, seeing a small concrete section in the back of a parking lot, adding vision, possibility, many hands and hope, then watching what grows.

The foundation of a vision October 2024

The town of Pittsboro, Pittsboro Rotary Club, Master Gardeners, Local Businesses and Volunteers of all ages and abilities brought their time, talent and resources. Slowly, we started to see sprouts.

Before we knew it, those sprouts bloomed into flowers, fruits, vegetables, herbs and yes connections. These connections are the seeds that become the foundation of new friendships.

We extend our sincerest appreciation to every hand that has helped to develop the Teaching Garden. Chatham Alliance is abundantly grateful for the opportunity that we have to be a part of building a caring and connected community. We encourage every community member to come by the garden, experience the beauty, sample the produce, volunteer and make a friend.
