Students Give Back

This month students and parent chaperones from Woods Charter School joined some of the team leads from the Chatham Alliance’s Chuckwagon program for the first youth cooking day. The team worked to prepare a protein based entree to share with the community. Students were trained, according to ServeSafe guidelines, in proper attire, handwashing, knife skills, cooking and cooling temperatures, packing and sanitizing processes.

CA has long hoped to incorporate local youth into our meal preparations. What a joyful day it was working side by side with these high schoolers. Students were able to practice their skills and were enthusiastic about serving and supporting the community. Together, the team prepared 96 servings of barbecue chicken.

This successful event has set the stage for future youth groups to join the Alliance for meal preparations while furthering our mission of caring for our neighbors and building community bonds. Thank you Woods Charter, our community is in good hands with your support.
