What’s in a Ham Biscuit
Technically, a ham biscuit consists of a piece of fried country ham place in a biscuit. Some folks add mustard, while others add jelly. There was even one person who salted the country ham.
This fall, Chatham Alliance volunteered to work with and support the Pittsboro Kiwanis Club in their yearly fundraiser by making Country Ham Biscuits at their booth at the NC State Fair. CA volunteers worked under the leadership of Kiwanis members to fry up ham, bake biscuits, build sandwiches and serve them to fair goers. Teams enjoyed fun and fellowship while focusing on the common mission of caring for our neighbors in Chatham, both young and old. Listening to nostalgic stories about generations of family members coming to this exact booth to purchase a delicious ham biscuit was joyful. The Kiwanis Club of Pittsboro has been cooking up biscuits at the fair since 1954. This is their single fundraiser and the funds raised here are used to support their mission of “improving the world one child and one community at a time” through college scholarships, Tools for Trades and support of other organizations that serve our community. Chatham Alliance is truly grateful for this service opportunity.
Thanks Pittsboro Kiwanis!
