Chatham Alliance Partner Guides Youth Cook
Not much could be more amazing than the opportunity to nurturing our youth, except, the desire of the youth to give back to their community. This is the blessing that we recently experienced, when a group of Siler City youth, ages 13-17, connected with Chatham Alliance and shared their interest in serving the community. Partners from First United Methodist Church, Siler City, worked alongside the youth team to prepare a protein based entree that would be shared with neighbors in our county.
Under the guidance of our First United Methodist Church partners, these young servants learned food safety, knife skills, proper cooking and cooling temperatures, vacuum packing and sanitization while developing a relationship with other local neighbors they had never met. The overall impact is one of service to the community, service to one another, the forging of new friendships and further strengthening of community bonds.
